Chocolate Chip Cookies: Traditional or Change It Up

This is a cookie recipe that guarantees a pick-me-up when needed. There’s something about warm, gooey chocolate chip cookies that melt away all the troubles of the world.

Chocolate chip cookies seem to be the standard in most households. But what happens when there is someone in your home who doesn’t like chocolate? Or maybe you’ve got someone who is allergic to it?

The good thing about this recipe is that there is room to make a few changes. Here are some other choices you can try: raisins, dried cranberries, or just some fun sprinkles. If there are no allergies, you can also try white chocolate chips for a different taste to try.

Use this recipe to make the classic or get your children in the creative mood and mix it up with other options of your choosing. Like many recipes, you can even substitute the butter for coconut oil, brown sugar for a less processed sugar like coconut or cane sugar, and use almond or peppermint extract in place of the vanilla. Time in the kitchen is a time of learning, and you can lead you and your kids to discuss various topics about food, health, and cooking skills.
