Husbands Are Blessings

In honor of Husband Appreciation Day, I thought I would remind all of us homeschool mamas about the blessing of having a Godly husband.  Now, I do know some of you probably don’t have Godly husbands but you do have one who supports you homeschooling your children, so they are still a huge blessing to you!

I’m going to start with my husband.  He is a wonderful husband and dad.  He is not perfect and would be the first to tell you that, but he is a tremendous blessing to me and our four children.  First of all, he enables me to homeschool them and be a stay-at-home mom by supporting us solely on his salary.  He encourages me and supports me in anything I want to do with them, and also helps by being the field trip person.  He often takes them on nature explorations, mountain man rendezvous outings or camping/fishing/floating trips.  He is also the family photographer.

Now, you may be thinking, my husband doesn’t do any of that stuff.  But I bet you can find many things he does do for you and your family.  Why don’t you try to find them this month?  Show him how much you appreciate him and what he contributes.  If you find something you wish he did, encourage him, but don’t nag him about it.  For example, you might want him to help with a field trip day.  Why not give him some ideas for it?  Often, the men want to help but are unsure of what they can do.  Make it simple for him and give a lot of praise for what he does do!  We all love to be noticed for what we do right instead of what we do wrong.

Pray for him!  This is the most important thing you can do for your husband.  And while we probably all pray to, “change him,” don’t forget to pray for blessings on him.  Pray he will be protected from things that could harm him spiritually, physically and mentally.  Thank God you have a husband who stays with you in this world of family abandonment and throw-away marriages.

Let us bless our husbands with our words and actions, and be certain we never tear them down but build them up!
