Creating a Legacy of Lifelong Learning

It is amazing how many doors open to the person who loves to learn. As parents, we all wish for our kids to love learning and have inquisitive minds, yet we aren't always sure how to cultivate that. While our children will make their own choices as an adult, we can create a culture in our home that will instill the desire for lifelong learning.

Do you think your home is a place that instills a love of learning? Do you model a love of learning for your children? We can be purposeful in showing our kids what lifelong learning looks like by displaying our constant effort to learn new things. Whether it is experimenting with a new cooking technique, trying a new hobby like knitting, or excitedly immersing ourselves in world history along with our kids, we should continue to grow our minds. Not only is it good for us, but it is a wonderful example to set for our kids on how we are always learning.

Those muscles required to learn something new should be exercised and used throughout life. Once a person has an understanding of how to apply themselves to learn something, the world is open to them. There are various ways to create a legacy of learning, and it will look different from one home to the next. Our articles this month offer some insight into some ways we as parents can create this love of lifelong learning in our home.
