The Author of Life - A Biblical Introduction to the Christian Faith Review by Jennifer KingJennifer & Regis Cordeiro
Perhaps there is nothing more vital to our children's education than for them to understand for themselves the Christian faith. No matter how great their abilities may be in math or science, caring for the home, or running a business, none of these other things matter if they are not loving and living for Christ. The Author of Life: A Biblical Introduction to the Christian Faith by Jennifer & Regis Cordeiro is a gentle way to disciple our children in the way they should go.
Originally a series of short and straightforward Bible lessons written for their children, this book is a compilation of these lessons to teach our children or anyone who is seeking to learn about true Biblical Christianity. These are things that we all need to be sure we really, truly know.
There are 94 lessons in this book, each one about a page and a half in length. Each lesson is written in beautiful, simple language so easy to understand—what a perfect way to encourage family devotions or practice independent study time in the Word.
Every lesson is full of scripture, so you can see where things are in the Word. It is an excellent opportunity to encourage our children to learn how to navigate their Bibles and find the answers when they need them. This is also a perfect introduction to the faith for someone of any age who is seeking wisdom and understanding. What a way to increase our faith!
My children range in age from five to fifteen, and this was a book that we were all able to explore and enjoy. Every lesson is full of scriptural references that help us see who God is and His plan and purpose for man. Slowly but thoroughly moving from creation to the fall, curses and promises, so many powerful lessons, written invitingly, helping us see how and why things like repentance and prayer matter.
Our children are never too young to develop a relationship with their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. What we believe is so important, why we believe it is even more critical. It is materials like this that can help our children to develop their own answers for those who ask about the hope that is in them. With this book, we can easily explore, with anyone, all that it means to take up our cross and follow Jesus. So come, like as a child, as see for yourself the goodness of God.
