If you are a busy mom with little time for devotions, give this book a try. It takes but minutes to read one of these 45 little devotions and even includes the Bible verses written out so you don't have to look them up. Dena is a busy mom herself and wrote at least portions of this while pregnant. It is indeed "Biblically based, humorous, helpful, and hopeful".

The book is divided into nine sections as a runner trains for a race starting with "Training Well" and ending up with "On The Podium". Each two-page devotion is followed by "Notes from the Coach" - the related Bible verses. Her struggles addressed in each devotion are common to all mothers and easily empathized with. Answers? She gives a few tidbits of advice, but there are her struggles as well and encouragement is the main theme here.

It is an excellent way to gradually work into a devotion time because 1) It will literally only take minutes, yet has depth that can be thought of through the day. 2) You will find yourself looking forward to tomorrow to read another, thus finding yourself cultivating a daily habit by making the time. 3) This will take you into a gradually increasing spiritual maturity leading naturally into more in-depth devotions if you allow it to.

I do recommend this book. Dena does not homeschool and works outside the home, but as we mothers all know, our time is not our own whether working outside or inside the home. This is Dena's first book. I look forward to reading her future books. This book would also be a great gift for that homeschool Mom who feels harried and out of control.
