Bible study is an important part of our homeschooling days. However, with that said, reading the bible can be extremely overwhelming and confusing for kids. As a Christian family, we strive to find books and material that make scripture interesting, easy to understand and that is age-appropriate. It is fun to switch up what we use and how we use it to study God's word from time to time. David C. Cook is a Christian publisher with a wide variety of religious education materials on the market. The Action Bible: God's Redemptive Story took reading the bible to a whole new level.

The Action Bible is a hardcover picture bible illustrated by Brazilian artist Sergio Cariello. The stories are written in chronological order from the Old Testament to the New Testament and told through comic book style illustrations geared toward all ages. The author does an excellent job summarizing the chapters in a way that keeps readers on the edge of their seats. The artwork brings the scenes to life and teaches God's word with a spirit of adventure. There are over 200 stories within the book, and each has a bubble form comic print which allows for quick reading.

When discussing a passage from church or a lesson from our school day, I was easily able to flip open the back of The Action Bible, find the index, and then discover where to read the story. Once found, the pictures, in bright fun colors, and the vivid scenes brought the characters and words off the pages! To be able to associate an image with the word of God was very thrilling and brought the scenes to life in an epic way.

Our family used The Action Bible to interpret the greatest stories ever told in a new light. We enjoy every day that we open the book. It makes scripture feel alive and active! The book became a wonderful supplement within our home and went along with us as we unpacked our daily bible lessons. The stories were portrayed in such a style that had little eyes and ears always wanting one more chapter. I would highly recommend this book to any family or individual especially someone who has trouble diving into the word of God.
