One of the greatest things about homeschooling, is seeing first hand my children’s strengths and weaknesses, as well as the ability to change and add to our curriculum in ways that strengthen and encourage growth within those weaker areas. One of those weak areas for my children is math. Both of my older children need extra practice with math which means I am always looking for new, fun ways to present the concepts and memorize the skills. This is where Emile Education’s Online Math Resource came in very handy.

Emile Education’s Math Resource is a supplemental math program available to use on your computer or tablet. The program focuses on many math topics including; geometry, fractions, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, measurement, statistics and place value.

The theme of the interface is based on a space. The student works through the program trying to gather all of the math gems from Scrambler. There are over 100 games that progress with the student and gems are found in each area of study, encouraging movement within the different sections.

My daughter loved moving from one area of the app to another and had a great time playing all the games. She never seemed frustrated, which is a definite plus in my book, considering math normally brings about a lot of frustration. This was a game that she played for almost 30 minutes and was loving every part of the game. I am pretty sure she was learning without realizing it was teaching her.

I loved being able to track her progress within the app as well as the way she continued to play much longer than I anticipated. The program is based in the United Kingdom, so the measurement section wasn’t as helpful as the rest of the program considering it worked with metric units and currency was different as well. This was the only issue I had with using the program. The game was entertaining as well as educational, which kept my daughter’s interest and helped her practice her math facts and equations without the mundane worksheet and flashcard route.

I would recommend this program to any parent looking for extra math practice. Emile Math is a fun, easy to use program that will keep your child enjoying math.
