I have a huge horse lover in our family. She eats, breathes and wants to have horses living in her bedroom. We recently had the opportunity to review the activity book, Horse Play! - 25 Crafts, Party Ideas & Activities for Horse-Crazy Kids written by Deanna F. Cook and Katie Craig.

Horse Play! - 25 Crafts, Party Ideas & Activities for Horse-Crazy Kids is a craft and activity book written specifically for the horse lover in your life. It contains 25 crafts that you can use to in either a party setting or just for rainy day activities. Some of these activities include games and trivia, sewing projects, crafts and party food suggestions.

I was worried about possible age limitations. Sometimes it seems as if many activity books are written for younger children and the suggestions are just way too easy and then on the other end the suggested activities are just too complicated and the kids end up getting very frustrated trying to make what is in the picture.

We did not seem to have any problem in this area. In the 25 different activities, there was something for each one of my girls. There were a few more simple types of crafts that did not require a huge amount of work for a short-attention span of our 9-year-old, but our pre-teen who is the true horse lover did find any of the activities too complicated or drawn out. She also has attention span issues, so I was also worried about frustration levels with not seeing a finished project. This was not a problem.  In fact, she was easily able to use the barn craft activity suggestion to create a cardboard barn project for one of her county fair craft projects. Too bad we did not have that activity before we spent a small fortune on a wood barn set for her American Girl horses.

Horse Play! - 25 Crafts, Party Ideas & Activities for Horse-Crazy Kids also has some great ideas on how you can throw a really cute horse themed party for your daughter that loves horses. There are suggestions for themed foods, games and you can even use some of the craft ideas for your party activities since they are not complicated and can be easily done in a limited time frame.

I know I am not one to rush out and buy craft books for the girls. Generally, they get frustrated quickly and they go hidden on the shelf. But Horse Play! - 25 Crafts, Party Ideas & Activities for Horse-Crazy Kids is one I am grateful we have discovered. The directions for each activity were very easy for her to understand, and they are activities that she does not mind repeating or changing up in her own creative ways so it doesn’t feel like she is just doing the same thing over and over again.

Horse Play! - 25 Crafts, Party Ideas & Activities for Horse-Crazy Kids is definitely a high recommendation for the horse lover in your life. I know we won’t be departing with our copy for a long time.
