For this review, Focus on Fractions – ULTIMATE Fraction Resource a collection of downloadable resources for use with elementary students.  I used this pack with my ten year old son, who has been struggling with fractions in his sixth grade math class.

Fractions can be an intimidating subject for elementary students. I still get nervous about them myself, having struggled with them for most of my school career. To this day, I am not sure if I could find the common multiples or denominators, let alone how to start solving problems with fractions.

My anxiety about fractions may have rubbed off on my kids a little. We are all proficient enough to double a recipe, but that’s about as good as it got around here- until I brought out this resource.

The ULTIMATE Fraction Resource contains:

Focus on Fractions bundle full of hands on activities and math games, the File Folder Fraction Games which you can assemble and use again and again, 28 Fraction Posters/Anchor Charts which explain fraction concepts in a concise, easy to understand way, and the Fraction Maze/Worksheet Bundle which will help your child master fractions quickly. There are TONS of files in this pack and you can easily use it as a supplement for any math program for kids in the fourth to eighth grade, or as a supplemental unit for use over the summer or between levels of curriculum.

Many of these resources are in full color, so be prepared to either pay to have them printed at a copy shop, or stock up on ink for them. It can be a little intimidating when you first download the files because there are so many of them. It took me a couple days to wrap my mind around the resources and to decide how to use them. Ultimately, I decided to make it easy on myself and picking and choosing which files we want to use as we go along to ease the cost of printing. I also have been printing them on card stock and laminating them so we can use the resources over and over and save a dime that way.

Regardless of how you use them, this collection is sure to find a place in your homeschool. The games and worksheets are easy to use and prepare. There is very little teacher prep time needed to use this resources, and all of the instructions are simple to follow for me and my son.

I would recommend these to any family teaching fractions. Life is too short to stress over teaching fractions. Get the pack, have a little fun, and master then the easy way. I wish I had found them years ago.
