Sandy Feet Keepsake Casting Kit Review by Kendra Fletcher

Spots and Ladybugs

Calling all beach lovers! Grab your little ones and a Sandy Feet Keepsake Casting Kit and head to the sand. You can cast some lovely memories with this kit from the Spots and Ladybugs company--and have a sweet display in your home for years to come.

The kit comes with everything you'll need except for the sand and water, but the intent is that you'll take it along with you the next time you head to the beach. Of course, you can also purchase a small amount of sand from your local garden center or borrow a shovelful from your backyard sandbox.

You'll begin by making a well-defined footprint in the sand, about 1 to 2 inches deep. The problem for us was that our two-year-old hates getting sand on his feet, but the three-year-old was completely game, so we went with it. It's easier to make the print if the sand is a bit moist, so keep that in mind. Next you'll mix the plaster in the plastic cup provided in the kit; then pour it into your little footprint. The plaster sets in about 30 minutes, so you'll also want to be aware of how much time you have. The Sandy Feet Keepsake Casting Kit comes with a jute cord so that you can hang your footprint, and there are instructions for writing a name or other personalization on the cast just after it's poured a begins to set a few minutes.

We had no problem transporting our footprint home. It didn't break, but we were only driving a few hours in our car. After having done a little research around the Web, I found that others had similar experiences even through plane trips and suitcases.

If you're thinking that the Sandy Feet Keepsake Casting Kit might make a good gift for someone you love, you'll especially like that it comes in a cute polka dot bucket just perfect for gift giving.
