Is your child having trouble memorizing math facts? This creative approach may help. Developed by a practicing neurodevelopmentalist, these materials recognize that children can learn efficiently when the brain is given proper stimulation with the appropriate frequency, intensity and duration.

In a very specific, structured manner, children are exposed to a set of math facts several times a day for seven minutes or so at a time. Sometimes they are just listening, sometimes looking at flashcards, sometimes answering quiz sheets. An accompanying CD with the facts being read by male and female voices, punctuated by silly sounds, provides the engaging audio input.

Quoting from their web site at www.littlegiantsteps.com, "Whether your child has received a label of Brain Inured, Autistic, Down Syndorome, PDD, Asperger's, Cerebal Palsy, Williams's Syndrome, ACC, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Learning Disabled, Dyslexia, ADD, ADHD or any of the other myriads of labels, there is hope!"

I believe these materials can be used for ANY child to help learn math facts.

The kit is available for addition, subtraction, multiplication or division. It contains the audio CD, pages of parent instruction, fact sheets to accompany the recording on the CD, speed drills to administer after using the CDs and flash cards.

The authors report, "Viola! Seven minutes of intense, multi-sensory math facts input that sticks." Appealing to multiple modalities is the appeal of the program. Each kit sells for $24.99. There are also some intriguing skip counting materials available.

If you are in the math-facts-memory rut, these materials might be the answer!
