Want to Homeschool But Not All Alone? What’s the Solution?

Schoolhouse Networks, led by churches using SchoolhouseTeachers.com, are forming nationwide for families who desire to homeschool in community

GRAY, Tenn. - August 15, 2023 - PRLog -- As the public school exit continues, churches across the country, in conjunction with SchoolhouseTeachers.com, are opening their doors to families who want to homeschool. Schoolhouses are popping up across the country this summer as church leaders and families actively organize Schoolhouses to support those who wish to take their children home, yet school together.

“Schoolhouses fill a real need for families seeking education and community outside of the government indoctrination centers. A Schoolhouse is a new network, but not a new concept,” said Paul Suarez of The Old Schoolhouse®. Paul and his wife, Gena, are vigorously leading the Schoolhouse movement. “It’s similar to a highly organized homeschool co-op, but with some differences. In the Schoolhouse model, a family that already has a membership to the curriculum platform SchoolhouseTeachers.com can join their local Schoolhouse. Each Schoolhouse chooses from the over 400 courses available on SchoolhouseTeachers.com for PK–12th grades. The courses they select are then offered at a local church twice weekly. Families complete the rest of their studies at home for the remainder of the week. A Schoolhouse is a community, and every family receives instruction and parents help teach or assist, as students enjoy classes together.”

Unlike a co-op or a school, the Schoolhouse is a network. If there are five Schoolhouses in one city, any family may take and teach classes from the Schoolhouse in which they enroll. A Schoolhouse family can make full use of the network and has access to multiple class lists across more than one local Schoolhouse, enrolling as needed in any available local Schoolhouse.

“Teach and take classes together with other SchoolhouseTeachers.com families. If you are interested in joining or even starting up a Schoolhouse in your city, fill out the short form at JoinSchoolhouse.com, and we’ll get you more information,” invited Suarez. “We are fielding requests from parents and pastors around the country. Maybe your city has several already; if not, let’s create a local Schoolhouse Network.”
