The Public School System Is Problematic. The Local Church Is the Solution.

Schoolhouse Communities Pilot Program Planned for 2023–24 Allows Families to Come Home, School Together

GRAY, Tenn. - June 6, 2022 - PRLog -- Four out of five students stop attending church after they graduate, while 87% of homeschooled young adults continue their faith in adulthood. (NHERI.org Gen2 Survey). That’s why Paul Suarez will be at the Southern Baptist Convention in New Orleans on June 11–14, 2023, talking with pastors face-to-face to discuss public school problems—and a promising solution.

“This isn’t just about education. It’s about discipleship. It’s crucial for the local church to support families who wish to impart a Godly education to their children. After all, whoever teaches the children is also discipling them,” said Paul Suarez, a passionate homeschool leader who is piloting a program he designed called Schoolhouse Communities in Tennessee and across the country. “Christian children don’t belong in the public school system, discipled and ‘raised’ by teachers and peers who undermine the family’s faith. Students left in that system become like their teachers. Read Luke 6:40.”

Schoolhouse Communities meet twice a week and are parent-led. A Schoolhouse is a homeschool co-op that operates as a church community. The curriculum used for PK–12th grade is based on a Biblical worldview and can be found on SchoolhouseTeachers.com. The Schoolhouse is a local church ministry and outreach opportunity. Its goal is to partner with families in training up children in the way they should go.

The number of parents choosing to homeschool is rapidly increasing. The church becomes a local solution for families exiting public schools and provides the vital community these families seek. Parents connect and network. Children form friendships and also learn from and interact with older members of the church, who impart wisdom and make a positive impact on the younger generation.

“Every church should have a Schoolhouse,” urged Suarez. “Will yours? Open your church doors twice a week and come alongside parents to disciple their children and provide a Christian education.” Learn more at ChurchSchoolhouse.com.
