Homeschoolers Appreciate the Importance of Art

SchoolhouseTeachers.com kicks off Virtual Art and Photography Fair

GRAY, Tenn. – September 13, 2022 -- PRLog – As many schools are doing away with their art programs, homeschoolers have an opportunity to discover hidden talents and allow their creativity to shine.

“Homeschooling offers endless options. Parents know what is important for their children’s well-being and are able to provide an enriching and satisfying education at home,” said Gena Suarez. She serves homeschooling families worldwide through The Old Schoolhouse®. Suarez and her team publish The Old Schoolhouse® Magazine quarterly and also provide a complete curriculum through the online educational platform SchoolhouseTeachers.com. “Homeschooling allows children the chance to explore subjects of interest, like art, for example, and incorporate that interest into their education,” Suarez explained.

Children of all ages can explore art right at home, inexpensively, with SchoolhouseTeachers.com. A complete PreK–12 curriculum for every subject, every grade, and every student, SchoolhouseTeachers.com offers enrichment courses as well. Options include many art courses and unit studies as well as resources for further exploration like art histories, articles, and activities. As students learn from masters of today, they can acquire new techniques, meet artists throughout history and from around the world, and experiment with a variety of mediums such as sculpture, painting, watercolor, colored pencil, and more.

SchoolhouseTeachers.com kicked off a PreK–12 Virtual Art and Photography Fair this week for its members to showcase their children’s artwork. Projects may be original paintings, drawings, sketches, photography, sculptures, etc., submitted via clear digital photo for website display. Award certificates will be presented for first, second, and third places. Student submissions are being accepted from SchoolhouseTeachers.com members through October 28, 2022.

“A child’s interests are important and pursuit of those interests makes for a satisfying education. Giving your child time and resources to pursue art at home is a treasure,” added Suarez. “Who knows? The art education you’re providing for your child at the kitchen table just may develop into a satisfying career.”
