Homeschool Families Need Local Support

The Old Schoolhouse® connects with homeschoolers where they live

GRAY, Tenn. July 20, 2021 prlog.org -- Parents are taking back their children’s education and safety. A recent survey conducted by the US Census Bureau revealed a doubling over the previous school year in the number of US families who were homeschooling their children as the 2020–2021 school year began. As schools roll out plans for everything from vaccination clinics to lowering the age of consent without parent knowledge, home education is likely to continue gaining momentum. This influx of families brings with it an increased need for accurate information and ongoing support within local communities. The Old Schoolhouse®, a trusted expert in homeschooling over the past twenty years, stepped up to help meet this need with Schoolhouse Ambassadors.

“Many families were thrust into homeschooling as a way to safeguard their children,” explained Gena Suarez, publisher of The Old Schoolhouse® Magazine, “and we understand how overwhelming that can be. Schoolhouse Ambassadors reach out to families at the local level, providing tools and support to help them be successful.” There are currently Schoolhouse Ambassadors available to homeschooling families across twenty-five states. “That’s not nearly enough to meet the need,” said Suarez. “Parents often have questions that are best answered by a local resource person. We will continue to recruit Schoolhouse Ambassadors to reach homeschool families where they live.”

The Old Schoolhouse® is seeking experienced US and international homeschool parents or mentors who are passionate about serving their local communities to be Schoolhouse Ambassadors. Potential candidates are encouraged to apply for these volunteer positions by August 6, 2021. Those selected will receive a number of benefits, including free family membership to SchoolhouseTeachers.com, the curriculum site of The Old Schoolhouse®, and a complimentary subscription to The Old Schoolhouse® Magazine. In addition, Schoolhouse Ambassadors receive ongoing training, networking opportunities, and a dedicated listing on the Schoolhouse Connect website for promoting local and state homeschooling events. The Schoolhouse Ambassador program provides a win-win situation for everyone involved, but most of all for the children who are learning under the protection and guidance of their own parents at home where they belong.
