Truth Seekers Mystery Series

The Truth Seekers Mystery Series was written by homeschooler, Christina Gerwitz with help from her mother, Felice. Christina wrote the first book at the age of 16. Currently, there are two books in the series, Dinosaur Quest at Diamond Peak and The Missing Link: Found, with a third nearing publication. My 12 and 10-year-old daughters read and enjoyed both books. The Missing Link: Found contains a glossary of terms used in the book and a resource list of creation based organizations.

Both books are action-adventure novels that will appeal to the 10 and over set (adults too). Join Anna and Christian Murphy as they travel to the Florida Keys and Rocky Mountain National Park in the Truth Seekers Mystery Series. While the stories are fiction, the background information is true, so reading these books will give your child a background in carbon dating, evolution, and creation science. Check out Media Angels at www.MediaAngels.com to purchase these books and other homeschooling resources.

Teaching Science ... and Having Fun! and Virtual Field-Trips: An Online Study Guide
By Felice Gerwitz
http://mediaangels.com/

Felice Gerwitz makes science fun! I looked at two of her available books - Teaching Science ... and Having Fun! and Virtual Field-Trips: An Online Study Guide. Teaching Science ... and Having Fun! is an invaluable resource for home teachers. Ms. Gerwitz provides much reassurance that we can all do a great job teaching science. She teaches us how to get organized and guides us through a scope and sequence of science for all grade levels. Separate chapters are devoted to using the scientific method, setting up a science lab, and a discussion of the need for a microscope or telescope. The book is rounded off with a reference section of vocabulary and measurements, and a treasure trove of reproducible planning sheets and copy sheets for use in experiments. Using the library and a good encyclopedia, the home teacher could build an entire science program using this book.

Virtual Field-Trips: An Online Guide has many wonderful features. This book takes us on an exciting technological journey to specific computer websites. For each "trip," Ms. Gerwitz gives us keywords, a site overview, goals and objectives for the trip, questions to ask while visiting, and suggestions for follow-up activities. Destination topics include science, history, math, literature and language, art, music, geography, and a few sites just for fun! I love using the Internet as an adjunct to our lessons and thought I was pretty knowledgeable. These books yielded many surprises for new destinations - to cyber-space and beyond!

Creation Science Study Guide
By Jill Whitlock and Felice Gerwitz
Media Angels
http://mediaangels.com/

Anyone looking to give your children the tools to refute evolution will be greatly facilitated by this study guide. The authors of this guide, Jill Whitlock and Felice Gerwitz, have done all the research so you can dig right in with the teaching. Whitlock, a former geologist, and Gerwitz, a former teacher, are both veteran homeschoolers who have put together a fantastic resource. This book could be used as a unit study, a science curriculum, or even just a supplement, as it is so full of information. The first section of the book is loaded with facts about creation, geology, and the earth - this section alone makes the book worth its very reasonable price, but there is much more. The next part of the guide is a unit study divided into three age groups - kindergarten through third, fourth through eighth, and ninth through twelfth. Each grade level is divided by subject and includes a reading list, vocabulary, and clearly presented lessons in all other subject areas. The authors suggest supplementing phonics, math, and grammar, although they do include math reinforcements as well as a wonderful language arts section. There are many interesting science experiments and a source list is included if you want to explore the topics further. I especially appreciate the teaching helps such as the schedule, time line, and special science experiment sheets. There is also available for a wonderfully low price, a corresponding activity pack that includes the science experiments in an excellent format with space for hypotheses, procedure, and conclusion to be written in as well as many other activities. Some of these activities are a nature journal, open ended story starter, word search puzzle, and more. There is also a glossary of related science words with definitions and an answer key for the word puzzles. My husband and I were awed and inspired as we read this resource. It gave us a new understanding of the mighty works God has done and His love and care for us. My children are always excited when school involves hands-on experiments and learning, and I was happy that the experiments used items that are easy to obtain. We all learned a lot and look forward to using the other study guides by these authors.

Creation Geology: A Study Guide to Fossils, Formations and the Flood
By Felice Gerwitz and Jill Whitlock
Jehovah's Park Versus Jurassic Park
By Catie Frates
The Science Fair Project Handbook
By Felice Gerwitz
http://mediaangels.com/

Creation Geology: A Study Guide to Fossils, Formations and the Flood is a comprehensive geology unit containing over 300 activities for students in grades K - 12. Felice Gerwitz and Jill Whitlock have teamed up to create another winning title in the Media Angels Science line. Creation Geology shows us how to schedule, prepare, and plan a unit study from start to finish. The material is outlined for us according to grade level with appropriate reading lists, activities, experiments, vocabulary and spelling words, language arts ideas, math reinforcement, science activities, geography and history ideas, and art and music helps. In addition to a comprehensive bibliography and resource list, we are provided with a field trip guide, science experiment copy pages, and rock charts to take along on our geology expeditions. If you are a hands-on science person, this resource pulls it all together into one comprehensive unit for your use for many years to come.

Jehovah's Park Versus Jurassic Park by Catie Frates is a new science offering by Media Angels. Is your child fascinated by dinosaurs, but are you just frustrated with the resources available at your library? This unique unit is here for you! It introduces the student to the Biblical view of dinosaurs and natural history, and compares the Biblical view to the popular naturalistic/ evolutionary view. If you are thinking, "Ho, hum, how dry!" think again! This exciting book will grab your attention and gently, but convincingly, encourage you to look at this history through Biblical spectacles instead of naturalistic spectacles. The drawings and illustrations are great and the scientific information is sound. If you are looking for one source for multiple ages to equip your children to intelligently speak to the evolutionary theory that permeates every aspect of modern life, this book is worth your time and attention.

The Science Fair Project Handbook is also available. This brochure is a guide to help you and your child put together a science fair project. In great detail, it takes your child from finding and narrowing down a topic to scheduling your time to finding information. Handy tips are also given for setting up experiments, setting up a display board, and writing a project report. Felice Gerwitz rounds out this helpful book with judging rules, a resource section, and a checklist for science fair projects. Home schooled students need this information! Get the brochure and get your support group excited about sponsoring a science fair. Media Angels has all you need!
