Yes, Please! Manners for Kids Review by Jenny Underwood

As a mom of four children under nine, it seems I am constantly correcting manner issues with my children. Far too often I see children who have not learned their manners and quite frankly, I do not want that to be said of mine! So, when I received Yes, Please! Manners for Kids by Eve Heidi Bine-Stock and Katerina Davidenko we immediately sat down and read it.

Yes, Please! Manners for Kids is a paperback, full-color book specifically written for young children to help them learn daily manners. The manners addressed are: Hello, Good-bye, Thank you, You’re Welcome, Please, Help without being asked, Keep elbows off the table, Chew food with mouth closed, Sneeze into a tissue, Excuse me (when you toot, sneeze, or cough), Excuse me (when you must interrupt), Knock on a closed door, I’m sorry, Write or draw thank-you notes, Listen, Be kind, Take turns, and Share.

There are pictures on each page with an example of what the child should do. The artwork is cute and made of fun, brightly colored-in stick people. My daughter especially liked this!

The book is nineteen pages long and has rhyming verses for each manner. For example, for “you’re welcome” it says, “Here’s an easy one to try: whenever Mommy thanks you, say, ‘You’re Welcome’ in reply.”

I think that this is an extremely easy book to incorporate into your daily work. It would be simple to pick a specific manner for each day and focus on it or just read this book to your children every week and perhaps point our any manners that they might be struggling to remember.

This book is available online for $9.99 so it makes a fantastic gift for the children in your life and would also make a great baby shower gift! We enjoyed it and I think it makes a perfect help to teach manners in a cute, fun way!
