Katharina: Deliverance is a historical fiction novel by author Margaret Skea. This novel is about young Katharina von Bora who is to become the wife of Martin Luther. The main characters, events, and places are historicallycorrect. However, the author does take artistic liberty to bring the facts to life. Telling the story of Katharina from age six up to the time of her marriage to Luther, Skea opens a portal back in history to the time of the reformation. The book sells on Amazon for $14.83. There is also a Kindle version available for $4.99.

This book is written at a high school reading level, yet our entire family has thoroughly enjoyed it as a family read-aloud. We read it to our children ranging in ages from sixteen to ten. I found this book to be an interesting and insightful supplement to or history studies. I believe it has helped my children get a better picture of the turbulent, yet momentous time period of the reformation. Portraying the historical events from Katharina’s point of view, Skea skillfully transports the reader back to 16th century Germany and helps you to get a real feel for what it would be like to live at that time.

I would recommend this book to anyone looking to add some color to their study of reformation history and to help gain a better understanding of the life and times of these historical figures.
