Language Lessons for the Very Young included a Student Book and an Answer Key. It contains 180 lessons on 66 pages in a softcover consumable student book, with a nine-page softcover Answer Key. The Student Book retails for $22.95 and the Answer Key is $4.95. Most pages are a simple black and white, but there are a few color painting replicas in the book.

Designed to introduce thinking skills required in a formal education in language arts with the Charlotte Mason approach, Language Lessons for the Very Young contains short lessons to engage the young student in poetry, copy work, studying capitalization, parts of speech, and more. It is geared for second and third grade but also suitable for a younger student with a bit more teacher assistance. Language Lessons for the Very Young ought to be considered suitable for ages five through about nine.

I used Language Lessons for the Very Young with my daughter who turned seven during the review. She is doing second grade this year in our homeschool. She thrived, loving the short lessons and able to do them mostly on her own. She loves the written word, and was excited to have memorized the Robert Frost poem that she copied down, two stanzas each day. We had done a much more intense language curriculum in the past, but dropped it to begin this one and we will continue on with Language Lessons for the Very Young. I was curious to see if my five-year-old first grade son so I had him do a few lessons as well. He needed just a little bit more assistance, but it worked well for him too.

I'm thoroughly impressed with Queens Homeschool! I've homeschooled my children for ten years, am a homeschool graduate myself, but am just learning of this Charlotte Mason homeschool curriculum company and have loved what I've seen so far. My daughter thought the short lessons were fabulous, she took great pride in what she was learning, I like the student-led approach that I was able to take with many of the lessons, and the minimal time that other lessons needed from me. I've been looking at other grade level options from Queens Homeschool for my other children since this one has fast become a favorite.
