The Cocoon Cam is a baby video monitor that tracks the baby’s breathing and movements. The Cocoon Cam comes with the monitor, power cord, Ethernet connection cable, two mounting screws, and the installation guide. You will need to download the free Cocoon Cam app in order to use this product. The Cocoon Cam retails for $150.

Once connected to your phone or mobile device, the Cocoon Cam simply is mounted four to five feet from your baby’s crib, with a bird’s eye view; once turned on, it livestreams to your phone via the Cocoon Cam app. The monitor tracks your baby and her breathing. If something changes abruptly or there is lots of movement in the room, you simply get a notification to your phone. You can then open the app and see what your baby is doing. It is intended for babies, while they are still in a crib; however, there is nothing that the baby wears, so you could use it for longer if you wanted to. I used it to make sure my baby was sleeping and breathing at naptime and bedtime.

The Cocoon Cam works really well with my family. I am someone who worries a lot, so having the peace of mind that she is breathing and sleeping okay without constantly going to check on my baby is really nice. I’ve never had such an easy electronic device install! It was effortless; it installed within two minutes and was ready to use. The alerts are extremely handy! Sometimes I wouldn’t hear a cry or movement when she wakes up, but the Cocoon Cam sends an alert to your phone as soon as there is movement detected in the room. I also really like the fact that there is nothing that you have to put on your baby; it is all tracked through the camera itself. Another pro to this product is the two-way audio. So not only can I hear what’s going on in the room, but she can hear me if I want to talk to her through the app which comes in really handy!

The quality of the video is also very good. It is High Definition, and that alone is worth it for me. At first, I was a little apprehensive about using a video monitor that goes through a cloud and then to your phone. However, after plenty of research and actual usage of the product, I found that this cloud and product is totally secure and safe to use. While setting up was a breeze and using the product is mostly seamless, there have been a few times that my phone dropped the connection with the Cocoon Cam which was inconvenient. To be fair, I live in the country and sometimes connection to the Internet can be spotty, so that may have a lot to do with it. To reconnect the product, I had to be in the same room, and it makes a loud noise when it connects which can wake up the sleeping child. So far, that has been the only negative thing I have to say about this product!

Overall, this product is great, and I would definitely recommend it to my friends or as a baby shower gift! The peace of mind and ease of use have made this one of my favorite tech products for mothers.
