KidsSoup.com is a website offering a plethora of resources for young children. The website is fairly easy to navigate, with the resources organized into many different categories. You can search for a resource or browse all of them by theme, skills, or resource type. The types of activities on KidsSoup.com include activities, lessons, booklets, crafts, games, movement, science, and worksheets. You can search themes such as alphabet, colors, numbers, nursery rhymes, seasons, shapes, and holidays.

Each month, there is a theme. For July, the theme is Safari. Some of the different activities included in this theme are:

Safari Handprint Animals—making different animals using your child’s handprint
“Take Me on a Safari” song
Bananas for the Monkeys play-dough mat
Camouflage Science Exploration
Jungle Predators and Prey Beginning Sounds game
Jungle Animal Movement cards
Safari Dance Emergent Reader
M is for Monkey Writing Practice

This is only a small sample of the resources available for the Safari theme. As you can see, there are tons of ideas! When you search or browse each theme, the resources are further categorized into groups, such as math, reading, booklets, games, and movement. This makes it easy to find exactly what you’re looking for. Each activity has fun, cute clip art or colorful pictures. The worksheets print beautifully and quickly. The resources are for preschoolers and kindergartners, although some of the activities could easily be adapted for older or younger children.

You can save your favorite resources into a personal folder called “My Resource Box.” I love this feature, as I like to plan in advance. This way, I can look at a few themes that we have planned, find resources I’m interested in, and save them in a convenient folder for when I’m ready to print them. This saves time by eliminating the need to find the resources I was interested in.

The activities are Common Core aligned and state the standards that each activity meets. I’m sure this will be helpful for teachers, but as a homeschooler, I don’t pay much attention to the Common Core Standards.

As a member, you have access to over 10,000 resources and 20,000 printables. Themes and activities are added to the website all the time. Every time I log on, I see a “What’s New” box, and there are always new things in it! Membership is very affordable, at $29.99 for a one-year subscription. That’s only $2.50 a month! I highly recommend KidsSoup.com for any homeschool mom of young children. It is so nice to have so many resources in one place. I love themes for my preschooler, so I really like being able to search by theme. I also love the variety of resources—games and songs, worksheets and crafts, book suggestions and reading activities. It is well-worth the membership! There is also a member forum and a blog, which will keep you up to date with the website and in connection with other homeschooling parents or teachers.
