Zoro’s book Soar! 9 Proven Keys for Unlocking Your Limitless Potential encourages everyone who reads it to discover, develop, and deploy their God-given gifts and talents. Zoro is a world-renowned drummer who has played with Lenny Kravitz, Bobby Brown, Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, and New Edition to name a few. The “Minister of Groove” has spent his thirty-year career in the music industry standing by his convictions of living life with biblical principles.

Soar! expounds on those principles in nine steps that are illustrated with various events and stories from Zoro’s life. The nine keys covered are Surrender, Discover, Dream, Strategize, Pursue, Believe, Bend, Be, and Impact. Each chapter has inspirational quotes from authors, politicians, preachers, and artists. At the end of each key principle is a short recap of the chapter listing the main points. At 159 pages Soar! is an easy read for middle-school-aged children to adults.

My favorite chapter is the Be chapter. I think it’s a chapter most teenagers should be encouraged to read at least once and probably more often. The concept of being yourself and who you are meant to be is not an easy one for that age group. Learning to embrace your individuality while discovering God’s purpose in creating you is something more of us need to practice. Zoro gently encourages the reader to look at themselves honestly while striving to see the beauty of God’s creation in them.

A fun, insightful read that will encourage you to search, ponder, and discover ways to explore your potential in this life, I encourage everyone to pick up a copy and find new ways for you to soar!
