Who doesn’t love to play games? Who does enjoy doing worksheets? My oldest son loves games. Worksheets? Not so much. My two boys are very plugged in; I am always looking for ways to unplug them, and when I can do that and encourage some extra learning at the same time, I am one happy momma. So, Miss Brain’s Cool Games was something I was really excited about!

Getting started is so easy! Dice? Check. Deck of cards? Got them right here. You also need some paper clips, rubber bands, coins, and post-it notes. A couple games need some special tools, but don’t worry because those in the back of the book to copy or you can download them from the website to print out.

The Forehead Game is one of over 30 games in this book that my kids absolutely love to play now! Each game can be played by 2 to 4 (sometimes even more) people and covers a variety of mathematical skills. There are fun games for fractions and decimals, place value, rounding, and lots more!

My boys love magic tricks, so games like The Disappearing Dice were a huge hit! In fact, many of these games have even made an appearance when we are out and about. My oldest has a blast showing off Magic X-Ray Eyes to his friends; how fun for him to find a connection between something he dislikes (math) and something else that he just loves (magic tricks).

This is such a fabulous book and a great way for the whole family to come together too! Each game offers two ways to play; if it is too easy, just Level Up! Learn together as you play and see just how fun math can really be. This is one of those things that everyone must have, especially if you have a reluctant little mathematician. No doubt, this has certainly made math something my three really look forward to and actually want to do more of every day.
