Brain Builder Review by Christine Field

Is it possible to exercise your brain for greater efficiency? Yes, say the creators of a CD program called . The CDs present a series of activities to strengthen auditory and visual sequential processing. What in the world does that mean, and why should we care?

Some of the fundamental processes of learning are attention, concentration and memory. Brain Builder consists of seven activities engaging the student to strengthen their auditory processing (remembering what is heard), visual processing (remembering what is seen), attention (paying attention to what is seen and heard) and processing speed (being able to do these things quickly and efficiently). It is recommended that the program be used in one to two 10-minute sessions per day.

The exercises consist of a series of numbers, at first short, and then increasing. By remembering what you have seen and heard, you train the mind to remember what you have seen and heard more efficiently and reliably. So what this does is to increase the brain's ability to sequentially process auditory and visual information. Why is this so important? This processing ability is fundamental to all learning activities. Think about the process of reading. These skills are at the essence of reading, and indeed all learning.

The testimonials on the web site are impressive. If you wish to increase your own memory capacity, you might want to check this out. If your child has learning issues, I can see where these exercises will increase your child's learning potential.
