Science experiments, oh my! I love letting my kids do these experiments, but I am not one on the planning and prepping. This is when Groovy Lab in a Box steps in to save the day!

We spent some time playing with two of these boxes, “What’s the Matter” and “It’s Electric.” Both boxes contain everything that you need to preform several different STEM projects. The only thing that was not included in the boxes would have been the water or the ice cubes. Each box also comes with a “groovy guide” that will help you work through the box and learn during every minute of fun.

“What’s The Matter?” is a lesson about ice. At the beginning of the guide, we are given the engineering design challenge. This challenge is our learning goal for the box. In this box, our challenge was to design a portable lantern out of ice. After many different hands on lessons like learning about ice melt and overflow to fire and ice, your child gets to brainstorm their ideas on building their challenge. They will test it and redesign if necessary.

“It’s Electric” is set up in the same way. The challenge in this box is to design and build a dance pad. Not just any dance pad, an electric dance pad. This is a fun box that allows your children to work with electricity in a safe way. Your child will start with a simple “magic” trick that introduces them to atoms and moves forward to fun like paper circuits only to finish with the fun of designing their dance pad.

These boxes are a great way to allow your kids to explore and learn while having everything you need right there, in the box. This is the first thing that caught my eye and a busy homeschool mom. I loved not having to search down all the items necessary for multiple experiments. Knowing it is 99% in the box makes me more ready and available to let the kids get their hands busy.

With everything in the box, and the Lab Notebook, or guide, you have everything you need. It is ready to go, and requires little to no prep time, another win for this mama!

Both the kids and I loved these boxes. They allowed us the right amount of learning to fun and we didn’t need to go out and get all the extras. This is something that our homeschool thrived from and we look forward to using more boxes in the near future!
