Busy, Busy is a cute little board book for the youngest members of your family. Written for children aged 2 through 5 it tells all about not being so busy for the ones that you love. The story is told through the eyes of busy animal families that are going about their daily lives and tasks. For example, the frog is busy leaping through the air while the mama bird is busy teaching her baby birds to fly.

Written by Eileen Spinelli and illustrated by Elina Ellis, the story touches on a subject that is dear to my heart. Sometimes I feel I get so busy with running the house and schooling my children that I have missed some heart opportunities. With everything that mom’s and dad’s alike have to do every single day, it is easy to get so busy that you forget to slow down, even if just for a hug.

During the course of this review period I have read this book to my youngest two children, aged 6 and 2 years old daily it seems. It was a requested bedtime book several nights in a row and again at quiet naptime. The colorful detailed drawings by the artist, Elina Ellis, make the story come alive within the pages of the book.

With the help of this book I have learned to realize that nothing in life should keep me so busy that I miss out on my children and husband. Those items keeping me away will still be there days and years down the road, while the special moments with my family are to be treasured and savored.

My only con for this book is that it is over too soon. However, the story is so good that it is easily read over and over again without any protest from me. My children love being read to and having a story like this lets them know that I am never too busy for them. I would recommend this book to anyone with a young child. It would make a great anytime gift for the special child in your life.
