Memorize Philippians is a 210 page ebook that is part of the “Bible Memorization Made Easy” series from Brookdale House. It is designed to help teens and adults to effectively memorize the entire book of Philippians over a twenty-three week time period. Each chapter is broken down into passages that are several verses long, and there is a five day plan for memorizing the new passage and reviewing previously memorized passages.

There are numerous helps for making the memorization easier, including hints to slow down the pace if needed. The instructions also include practical suggestions to incorporate the daily plan into your devotions, and encourage meditation and reading the passages aloud to most effectively memorize the words. This actually allows for three methods of memorization in one system: reading, hearing, and writing the words, making this a very successful plan.

During a typical week of using the memorization plan, the reader will read the passage out loud, and then copy it several times in the book. After reviewing it for several days, the passage is written with an increasing number of words removed, and the reader must fill in the blanks of the missing words, further reinforcing the memorization of the passage. By the end of the week, the reader is instructed to write the entire passage from memory.

Memorize Philippians can be used for any student old enough to copy paragraphs, but I feel the memorization system would be most effective for teens or adults.

Because the book of Philippians has always been one of my most favorite books in the Bible, I used this program myself, as an adult, to test whether I could actually memorize an entire book of the Bible. I am happy to report that Memorize Philippians was very user friendly and simple, and made memorizing a large portion of Scripture and recalling it at one sitting extremely easy. This book helped me to fulfill a lifelong dream of committing the book of Philippians to memory, and I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking to memorize large portions of Scripture.
