God's Girls Vols. 1 and 2: Devotions and Activities for Ages 9-12 Review by Dawn King

My nine year-old daughter Ariella gleefully shouted, "Are these for me??!!" as she snatched the God's Girls books off my desk and headed for the sofa. "No, wait! I have to review those first!!" I said as I pried them out of her hands. Crestfallen she asked, "When will you be done?" Apparently sooner than I planned, or I'll never see them again, I thought to myself.

The welcome page of each book aptly describes the books' purpose. "This book is about God, the Creator and how God creatively used women in the Bible and you, a young woman, creatively created, becoming a more creative person and more like Jesus."

Each of the thirty devotions is made up of a memory verse, a devotional reading about a woman from the Bible with a personal application to your daughter's life, a prayer, a dazzling thoughts section that links the craft to the devotion, journal questions to answer, craft instructions and sparkling ideas on how to vary the craft. Each book also contains a list of basic crafting tools and a shopping list of supplies needed to complete each craft.

The crafts are cool and actually pertain to the take-away message of the devotion. They also are easy enough for your daughter to do on her own. You'll probably have to help her round up all the supplies though.

For my family, doing a craft a day would be too much, but I think it will fit us perfectly as something to do once a week during a special time with Mom. The God's Girls books would make great Christmas or birthday gifts for your daughters!
