In The Fall of Satan: Rebels in the Garden, Bodie Hodge compiles a list of 35 commonly asked questions regarding Satan, original sin, and the Fall of man. Biblical answers will guide believers unto truth and will equip them with the tools necessary to oppose the worldly philosophies of a culture that questions the very existence of the devil, hell, and evil itself.

Each chapter is devoted to one of the 35 questions and is usually just a few pages long, making this book very easy to read and understand. Some of the thought-provoking questions include:

• Was Adam with Eve when she spoke to the serpent?
• Biblically, could death have existed before sin?
• How long ago was the curse?
• Why would God, who is not evil, allow evil to continue to exist?
• Who is Satan, and was he always called "Satan"?

Question 35 is a bonus question: Who were the Nephilim (and the sons of God) in Genesis 6 and Numbers 13? This was definitely the longest chapter, but it was very interesting and, I admit, a little confusing at times. It is a topic I have often pondered whenever it comes up in Scripture.

While Hodge's answers are based on Scripture, sometimes man's views are presented. I really appreciated the fact that he reminds the readers not to be dogmatic about a view when so little information is revealed in the Bible on a particular topic.

Reading this book reinforced what I already knew about Genesis, added to my current knowledge, and piqued my interest on other topics. I never thought too much about illustrations depicting the serpent in the tree of knowledge of good and evil, but I think quite differently after reading chapter 29! Also, though I have never believed in evolution and have used the Bible to back up this claim, The Fall of Satan: Rebels in the Garden gave me one more very logical reason why evolution can't possibly be true.

After I read the book, I passed it on to my sixth-grade son. Except for the bonus question about the Nephilim, he felt it wasn't too difficult to comprehend. We've read Genesis several times as a family, though, so he was already familiar with many of the topics discussed.

This book is a great resource to have handy. I highly recommend it to middle-grade readers and adults who are already somewhat familiar with the book of Genesis. For such a wealth of information packed into 174 pages, $12.99 is an unbeatable price!
