Biologist, chemist, physiologist, and geologist Dr. Gary Parker began as an atheist and then encountered Jesus. He writes as a scientist bridging the gap between secular biology textbooks and the Bible. In the opening page Dr. Parker writes, "This Creation Foundation Series gives young people ANSWERS--answers from science and answers from Scripture--ANSWERS that show how SCIENCE and the BIBLE fit together to give answers we all need for all of life!" That is what this 150-page paperback book is all about.

The book is structured as a readable text, with questions at the end of each chapter. The book contains three units: "Biological Change: Darwin vs. Design," "Patterns in Structure and Development," and "DNA and the Origin of Life." Side margins contain text and pictures. The audience for the book would be middle and high school students (as well as adults) who are trying to bridge life science and the Bible. The book is well designed for individual study as well as a family discussion manual.

Science is a must-study in our house. However, it is not my favorite subject! This was a great book to hand my son to read. He had already read about the famous peppered moth "proof" of evolution. In this book, Dr. Parker included information about why the story is now questioned as evidence of evolution. This book is not a stand-alone text for the study of biology, but it is an excellent supplement for putting biology in the context of the Bible.

The chapters are full of information and evidence for creationism. The science language in the book is rich. This is definitely not lightweight science. As a non-science parent, I found the text overwhelming at times. My science-minded son, on the other hand, was fascinated by the text and did not feel overwhelmed. He felt that it gave him more facts to fight the theory of evolution.

Dr. Parker did a great job of writing a book that intertwines science and Biblical truth so that young people today will be equipped to answer the questions in life science.
