Are you in a bind? Your children are complaining they have nothing to do? Knots to Know: Hitches, Loops, Bends & Bindings Quick Starts for Kids by Emily Stetson will become your child's new best friend. Just give them a little bit of rope and this book, and they will be entertained for hours on end! Every page is filled with illustrations, cute cartoons, and great instructions for how to tie anything you've ever dreamed of.

Children will learn so much useful information from this book! First off, readers learn about the different types of knots and when to use them. They'll learn knot-tying terms, such as bight, which is a line bent into a U-shape or semicircle. One of the most valuable lessons I learned was by taking the "Know-it-all Knots Quiz!" This is a multiple-choice fun quiz to help you figure out what kind of knot is needed for the job at hand. Don't worry, the answers are provided!

Each knot includes a description, uses, and step-by-step directions on how to tie it. Quick Starts tying tips are helpful too! Sometimes the tip is an alternate way to tie the knot or an easy to remember way of tying the knot. For example, to tie a bowline you think of a rabbit coming out of its hole, going behind a tree, and then popping down in front again! If you remember this mental picture, you can tie a bowline and get it right every time!

The illustrations are very accurate and easy to follow, and children love the funnies that are sprinkled throughout the book. Fun chapters covering fab five knots, coils and shortenings, stopper end knots, binding knots, bends and joining knots, and knots that make loops, make finding the perfect knot as easy as 1-2-3.

Whether they are camping, sailing, hiking, doing chores, or playing survival, your children can use what they learn from this book for a lifetime!
