This Is the Day! is a 32-page, hardback children's picture book that expands on Psalms 118:24: "This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it." Each day covers a different part of nature and a different perspective of a part of the Bible verse. For example, on Wednesday Ms. Carlstrom writes about the eaglet and the great blue heron. The focus for the day is giving thanks. Each day has a short poem by Ms. Carlstrom and beautiful illustrations by Richard Cowdrey.

I used This Is the Day! for a morning devotional book with my preschool and elementary-aged children. There was so much for the eye to focus on. We could use the pictures as a jumping off point to discuss art and nature. Ms. Carlstrom had a thought for each day that was simple enough to recall time and again throughout the day

This Is the Day! was a perfect match for our family. I have one child that loves nature, one that loves art, and one that loves picture books! Add that to a mom who wants her children to know and love God and you have a perfect match.

Mr. Cowdrey's illustrations and Ms. Carlstrom's words complement each other beautifully in this excellent picture book.
