The Presidents Playing Cards can be used for family card games or given as a gift. The back of the cards is just like any other deck of cards. They come in a sturdy box with the pictures of nine different presidents. There are 52 cards plus the jokers. The jokers are the two presidential candidates that won the popular vote but not the election. (Can you name them both?) Each card is a regular playing card with a number or J, Q or K. Each card then has a picture of a president, his lifespan, his place of birth, his party, and a brief description. For example, one card states that President Garfield discovered a proof for the Pythagorean Theorem using a trapezoid.

The cards can be used as flashcards or used to play a regular card game. Any homeschool mom or dad can spice up a regular card game with these cards. I kept them in my purse for a week and found many uses for the cards. My preschooler enjoyed putting the presidents in order of their position in history. When playing a card game with my elementary-age students, I would lay down a discard and call out the name of the president. The website also has links to the presidents' libraries.
These cards are a fun and inexpensive way to integrate learning into the ordinary. I can pack them in my child's backpack for a day at grandma's house or keep them in my purse for those days when we're waiting at the doctor's office. The pictures are of high quality. The cards are extremely sturdy. I appreciate that there is a small description of each president--just enough for the young student to grasp.

If you come from a faith that doesn't approve of playing cards, then this product isn't for you. Also, the word "poker" is used on the cover, stating "poker size playing cards."

The Presidents Playing Cards seem to keep disappearing at our house. The whole family is borrowing them to play games. My preschooler loves studying their faces and trying to find the few "matches." I love brushing up on my names and dates while waiting for someone. This product is a winner!
