Weather: A Unit Study Review by Jennifer Barker

This unit study is for grades 1-4. The subjects included with the title subject are Bible, science, and language arts (poetry). You'll need approximately five weeks to complete the study, and it can be used in conjunction with a curriculum. It should not replace phonics, spelling, reading, and grammar. The only thing that is included in this study is the guideline book. There are no CDs or other electronic components.

Before beginning the study, you should review the list of required and recommended resources and the objectives. Each week includes a study of a Bible passage, a general study from the required and recommended weather resources, and a study in language arts through poems. Week one is an overview of weather; week two covers components of weather; week three covers clouds and precipitation; week four covers dangerous weather; and week five covers weather predictions and patterns. The appendix includes a weather chart, a weather predictions chart, a temperature comparison worksheet, and weather poems.

I do wish there were some electronic sources or Internet resources included in this course. But other than that, I would recommend this unit study to anyone who has a child interested in weather but does not want to spend a long period of time studying it.
