Think "Wheels on the Bus" with a new sort of flare. The Journey Home From Grandpa's will keep your young children singing and learning and asking "Can we do it again?" about a hundred times in a row.

Whether you read the book aloud yourself or sing along with the CD, your preschoolers will learn about all sorts of vehicles as the characters travel home from Grandpa's house. You run across a helicopter, tractor, crane, barge, and several other modes of transportation that you don't always find in other books about vehicles.

Not only that, but descriptive words are introduced like crazy. "The blue barge floats along the cool and still canal, the cool and still canal..." The other verses are just as descriptive, and the illustrations wonderfully add to the understanding of the new vocabulary.

At the end of the book, you'll find a little map of the town that your children can use to trace the journey home from Grandpa's. All in all, I found so many rich skills reinforced in this picture book--vocabulary, descriptive language, mapping, and understanding about each vehicle's "job."

Once you've sung along with the CD a few times, you can skip to the second track and sing with the music only. That's what my children enjoy! This book and CD are sitting on my shelf waiting for my toddler to grow just a bit older. He's going to love them!
