The Fossil Book is another wonderful creation science resource from Master Books. This one, like the rest of the Wonders of Creation Series, is full of pertinent scientific information for your family study of fossils.

The book starts off by defining a fossil and explaining how they are formed. It explores special types of fossils and discusses the fossil fuels coal and oil. We also learn about the 4 C's: Creation, Corruption, Catastrophe, and Christ.

"Fossils are found as billions of dead things, buried in rock layers, laid down by water, all over the earth. All scientists agree that floods are the ideal conditions for forming fossils. When a plant or animal is rapidly and deeply buried in cement-rich sediment, the deep burial keeps the specimen from being totally destroyed. Was it many small floods over millions of years that formed fossil deposits, or mostly the yearlong, worldwide Flood of Noah's time?"

One of the main points of the book explains the scientific evidence for the third "C", catastrophe, that was Noah's Flood.

Further points explain the Geologic Column Diagram and how a flood geologist and an evolutionist would differ in their interpretation of the same evidence. This section was fascinating. Chapter three explores flood geology versus evolutionary geology and the difference between a lot of water versus a lot of time. Chapter four and five show us beautiful full-color pictures of various fossil types from trilobites to dinosaurs. These chapters also include thorough explanations about origin and why we see what we see today in the fossil record. Some of the specimens are truly remarkable.

Mount St. Helens, the stratigraphic series (layers we see in various places in the world), and the Grand Canyon are all dealt with here. On every page are diagrams, beautiful photography and quality drawings that further enhance what we are learning. This 80-page hardback book is worth every penny of its $15.99 list price. If you are looking for answers to many fundamental creationist questions, you will find them in The Fossil Book.
