The Homeschooling Trail: A Journey of Faith Review by Christine Field

Michele is a Canadian homeschooling mama to two boys who wrote this book as a celebration of their lifestyle of flexibility and freedom. I don't know why, but I love to read about the lives of other homeschoolers! Michele shares with transparency about the highs and lows of this crazy journey. She talks about the good days, the multiplication tables that do eventually get memorized, and the joy of sharing good books together. She is equally open to discussing the bad days when she felt discouraged and wondered if the boys were learning anything. This book was a reassuring peek into a relaxed homeschool setting.

Michelle also shared her struggles to work part time, balance finances, find time to write, and deal with all the other worries of everyday life. Underlying it all is the story of her faith walk that sustains her on this journey.

I really enjoyed Michelle's writing style, and I was disappointed when I searched for a website and couldn't find one. Her writings have been published in many print and online publications, so I enjoyed searching around for her articles.

If you'd like a birds-eye view of another family's homeschool life, you'll enjoy this journey.
