Veritas Press puts together some of the best curriculum around. I think the straightforward, engaging format is the key. The Homeschool Kit we reviewed, Joshua through Genesis, comes with a Teacher's Manual (over 300 pages), beautiful Bible flashcards, and a CD-all you need is your Bible!

The Teacher's Manual starts out with a 'how to use this manual' section, which lays out information and a typical weeks lessons. This program uses a 36-week format, five days a week, which could easily be altered to fit any schedule. We start each lesson with prayer, and listening to the "Memory Song". We then look over the Bible Card, we discuss the picture on the front, which are beautiful works of art, (Michaelangelo's Sistine Chapel works, Caravaggio, and Gustave Dore', just to name a few) and then our oldest reads the back of the card. The cards contain the title of the biblical/historic event, the scripture reference, a summary of the event, and a list of other resources you could also use in your study. We then read the referenced scripture account directly from the Bible. We answer questions and proceed with the rest of the lesson.

The weekly lessons offer thought provoking questions, projects (everything from murals to crosswords, to putting on a dramatic production, games, maps, art projects and more), and worksheets. These lessons incorporate reading, writing, vocabulary, history, spelling, science, the arts, music-the list goes on!

I just love that Veritas Press Bible Curriculum teaches CHRONOLOGICALLY! Genesis through Joshua covers the first 32 'main events' in the Bible. These events include: Creation, The Fall, Cain & Abel, Enoch & Methuselah, The Flood, God's Covenant with Noah, The Tower of Babel, The Call of Abram, God's Convenant with Abraham, Hagar & Ishmael, Sodom & Gomorrah, The Birth & Sacrifice of Isaac, Isaac & Rebebkah, Jacob & Esau, Joseph as a Slave, The Famine in Egypt, Twelve Tribes of Israel, Moses' Birth, Plagues in Egypt, The Exodus, The Ten Commandments, Aaron & The Golden Calf, Moses gets New Tablets, The Tabernacle & The Ark of the Covenant, The Levitical Priesthood, The Wilderness Wanderings, Balaam & His Donkey, Moses Dies: Joshua Assumes Command, Spies to Canaan, The Battle of Jericho, Israel Given The Promised Land, and Joshua's Last Words. They make memorizing those facts simple with their wonderful CD and "The Memory Song". You will find yourself singing this catchy tune, and it will reinforce the memorization of these events, guaranteed. At the end of the Teacher's Manual, also included are: Memory Verses, Song Lyrics, an Answer Key, and even handouts you can copy for your co-op, Sunday School class, or to use in your homeschool program.

When our children complete Veritas' five-year program, they will have 160 events of the Bible memorized and hidden in their hearts.
