The Money Savvy Kids @ Home Kit

By Susan Beacham
Money Savvy Generation

910 Sherwood Drive, Suite 17
Lake Bluff, IL 60044

The Money Savvy Kids @ Home Kit contains a see-through plastic piggy bank that has four separate compartments: Save, Spend, Donate and Invest. Each compartment has its own entry slot, and each compartment empties into a different foot for removal. The caps on the feet are really nice, and each cap covers the entire bottom of the foot and twists off with no difficulty. The pig comes with some little decals/stickers that you can put on the pig to remind you of your savings goals. Also included in the kit is a 32-page Parent Handbook that explains the course and also includes a recommended reading list for various age levels. There is a student workbook (21 pages), a coloring and activity book (23 pages), a presentation CD with images and music, and a large wall poster. This course is designed for ages 6 to 11, or first through fifth grades. Various accessories are available as well as a choice of different banks, including a football and a cow bank.

This is one of the most thorough and kid-friendly money courses I have seen. Even very young elementary aged children can learn this valuable information and be prepared for its practical use in the adult world. If this information is available to our children at a young age, they should be much more confident and competent when faced with financial decisions later in life. This course is being incorporated into our curriculum for this year--even though we already had this year's courses mapped out--because I feel that this is important knowledge for our homeschoolers to glean.

The Money Savvy Kids @ Home Kit retails for $39.99 for the full kit and $21.99 for extra student bundles. Each child should have his own set of workbooks and his own bank. I highly recommend this course to homeschoolers and even to parents and grandparents of public school children because this is valuable and necessary for everyone.
