This set of consists of five CDs with a song for every letter of the alphabet and an accompanying book that goes with each song. There are five cases, each of which contains a CD and 5 books (except for the last one which has 6 books). Each CD and book is in an individual protective cover within the case. The premise behind this approach to learning the letters of the alphabet (upper and lowercase) and their sounds is that children learn better when material is set to music. As the author puts it, "Rhythm enhances memory." Also, children retain information longer if they can associate it with a story or picture. I have found this to be true in my years of teaching, and I always look for lessons set to music, especially in the lower grades. An added bonus is that each story teaches moral values, behavior, and life skills in a fun and inviting way.

My five-year-old granddaughter loves music, and this is some very catchy music! I like listening to it just for the beat it has. My granddaughter is at the stage where all the drill on the letters and sounds is starting to come together for her. This set has made the job even easier and more enjoyable. I try to play one of the letters/stories each day for her and give her practice sheets for the same letter sound. This really makes it all come together.

I was very excited when this set arrived! It has met and exceeded my anticipation. When I went to the website to see how much this set sells for, I was amazed that a wonderful set like this is only $39! The best part was that the site has even more materials you can order that go along with this set, such as posters, placemats, stickers, flash cards, activity sheets, a DVD, and more! Also on the website is a sample of the book for letter A so that you can page through and listen to the music just to get an idea of what these are like. If you are teaching a preschooler or kindergarten student their alphabet, phonics, or to read, this set would be a valuable asset to that pursuit.
