Baby games. Just the thought makes me sigh a contented little sigh at the memory of them. Hours upon hours spent getting to know each of my babies, bonding with them, teaching them.

Baby games are more than games. A baby's brain synapse system is nearly complete after the first three years of life, making brain stimulation during these early years critical. In addition, a baby's brain is 250% more active than that of an adult.

This book is a great little handbook for new moms! Written by child development expert Jackie Silberg, this volume is full of information and ideas for your child from birth to twelve months of age. The author provides developmental charts for each three-month period, detailing what you can expect from your baby in the area of physical development, social-emotional development, and intellectual development. Then comes the fun stuff!

For each category of development, Silberg lists several activities to do with your child. Some of them are second nature to us, such as holding them close and singing nursery rhymes. Others are things that might not come to mind, such as putting your infant on a large exercise ball, tummy down, and holding him or her securely while you sit in front and gently roll the ball slightly. Or shining a flashlight on objects in the baby's room and moving the light around while your baby follows it with her eyes. The ideas for older babies are even more fun and creative!

As homeschoolers, we want to give our children all the educational advantages possible. This book gives you plenty of ideas to help your child grow and develop . . . and have lots of fun with mom!
