This downloadable (PDF) e-book explains how to compile a preschool notebook. The object is to go through the notebook daily with your child because small children learn by repetition. There are 16 printable pages that are used for teaching very simple concepts. There are two ABC pages in different lettering styles, with both upper and lowercase letters, for following along as you say the ABCs. There is a clock to teach recognition and to count from 1 to 12. There is an illustration to go with a traditional counting rhyme and a page with flowers to count, each one containing a number from 0 to 10 so that you can ask the child to point out a particular number or just count along. There is an illustration of "Polly Put the Kettle On" and also one of the original 1806 version of "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star," which has two additional verses that we seldom hear. There are three pages with objects on them; each object has a letter in the middle to match to a duplicate letter in the center of the page. There are two counting pages with just the numbers in sequence (1-10 and 11-20). Another page is a days-of-the-week chart, and one has a doll made of shapes so the child can identify squares, circles, triangles, etc. There is an apple tree for counting apples and a page with a rebus rhyme. These pages are all hand illustrated.

There are some good ideas contained in this e-book, and for only $4 I think it will be a welcome addition to any preschool curriculum portfolio.
