This is a good resource for those interested in teaching and learning about our government. The information is presented in an easy to understand format for 4th -6th graders.

In 15 chapters, this book tells you the basics of how our government is set up and why it's different than other governments in the world. The first chapter starts with a rundown of the different types of government. Then the book focuses on our American government by retelling how it got started. It then goes into explaining the constitution and how our government was set up. It ends with a section on what we should do as citizens in this country.

My children are too young to fully use this resource, but it was a good refresher course for me. I could easily imagine a fourth grader getting a full solid understanding of our government and why it's so special. There were some interesting statements about having the right to a free public education that would spark some interesting conversation with a 5th or 6th grader.

This concise little book on our government and its founding documents is a winner in my book. It is a wonderful jump start into deeper areas of discussion and research.
