Personal Word Walls are basically 2-pocket file folders. They are available, currently, for third and fourth grades (I received both to review). The front and back of the folders are covered with high frequency words that are often misspelled. The words are arranged in alphabetical order for ease of reference. The folder comes with a blue sheet of paper inside; this paper is broken up into squares, one per letter, and is a place for children to record additional words that are difficult for them to spell.
 
The folder can be used as a writing folder, a spelling folder, or a homework folder. These folders, however, are not designed for homeschoolers. One drawback is that they are available in packs of 20. I don’t see an option to purchase just one, which would be more suitable to the average homeschool family. These might be a nice addition to a co-op class, though.

I plan to give the fourth-grade folder to my daughter to keep her writing projects in this year. I believe that having the quick reference to frequently misspelled words will be helpful to her, even though she is a good speller. I would not, however, just purchase these folders on my own. Twenty folders for $38.95 doesn’t seem like much of a bargain to me when I could buy a plain folder for less than $1.
