This alphabet book is not just for toddlers. Toddlers will certainly enjoy the lush illustrations, but older children and people of all ages will enjoy the diverse information about England presented in this lovely book. You might feel as though you need a cup of tea while reading it!

Each letter of the alphabet is presented on a one- or two-page spread. Textual content is included on 1/3 of each page. The content includes such topics as castles and cathedrals, Guy Fawkes, kings, Parliament, Stonehenge, and Yeoman Warders. The content provided is really like a mini-encyclopedia entry, so students and adults alike will learn something interesting about England.

Melanie Rose's artwork is just gorgeous, with lush colors that provide vibrance and detail. The artwork actually takes up 2/3 of each page so that young children can simply soak up the beautiful illustrations while the text is being read. I'm sure they will be prompted to ask questions about what they see.

This hardback book lists for $17.95 and would make a worthy addition to your bookshelf or coffee table--or even a fine gift for any Anglophile.
