Remember Me

This is Christian mystery novel. It is actually a sequel to Pieces of Silver, which I have not read, so I will not digress into that aspect other than to say that Remember Me is quite intriguing and able to stand on its own.

Josef is a man without a past-at least not a past known to him, that is. He is severely injured and being taken care of by a man he does not know in a place he does not know, and the answers are not easy to come by. The setting is in the early 1900s in the United States during the first World War. As he continues to mend and time goes by, he sets up a new life for himself and falls in love. Little by little he learns about Jesus and the message of the gospel and comes to believe it with the help of his new love, Lissa. Eventually, of course, he finds out the truth of his past, which brings a crisis of its own as he deals with it, his newfound faith, and his relationship with Lissa.

I would recommend this book for teenagers and adults. There is no explicit or illicit content (though there are some war scenes), but I do not feel the average younger child would understand the nuances of what is going on to appreciate the dilemma fully. I was easily engulfed in the story line, and once started, I read the all 335 pages in one sitting. (Yes, I probably should join "Readers Anonymous.") If you like Christian mysteries set in a historical context, be sure to check this book out.
