Homemaking and Living for Christ

As Christians, we can honour God in all we do, and our job as a homemaker and home educator is no exception. Everything we do can be seen as an opportunity to "work heartily as unto the Lord" and demonstrate His love to our family and those around us, especially through Christian homemaking.

There are many different aspects of homemaking and ways to honour the Lord in the day-to-day of our time at home. Many of these skills are not often taught anymore. A wonderful part of homeschool is having our children with us all the time and, therefore, the ability to pass on some of these homemaking skills to our children. It is beneficial for them to see how God fits into the day-to-day and how we live for Christ in our homes. This gives us, as mothers, a chance to model Christian living for them.

From tips to connecting with God in your day-to-day tasks to ideas on making a house a home to some traditional skills often used in homemaking to pass on to your children, this month's content will inspire you in your role as a homemaker and mother.

Online Schooling is Not Homeschooling: A Story of the Freedom of Parent-Led Education

When our son was nearing preschool, my husband and I discussed the possibility of homeschooling him, at least during his preschool years. You have to understand, in the Philippines, enrolling in a good preschool is sort of a prerequisite or preview to what kind of education a child will be able to receive. I was not “ambitious” then. Just preschool. Learn the ABC’s, the 123’s, easy peasy.
