Iconic structures from around the world and across time that students will study include the Pyramids, Pantheon, Parthenon, Colosseum, Petra, and the Great Wall of China. Each lesson explores not only the form and function of these structures but also the innovation and engineering that made them possible.
The curriculum includes a variety of engaging learning tools such as reading assignments, videos, map activities, and hands-on projects. Students will develop an understanding of how architecture influences our environment and daily life, while also considering architecture’s role in city planning, space organization, and cultural expression. The curriculum concludes with a look into the field of architecture as a career—examining job duties, educational pathways, and future employment opportunities. By the end, students will have a broad understanding of architecture’s essential components, historical significance, scientific principles, and cultural impact.
The Introduction to Architecture homeschool curriculum is worth 1.0 academic credits upon successful completion of all reading assignments, videos, map activities, and hands-on activities, depending on how many hours are devoted to the assignments.
