Will My Kids Teach Their Kids? 2nd-Gen Homeschooling
October 1, 2025

Hey, Mama! Welcome to The Homeschool Minute.
One of the greatest joys of homeschooling is seeing the seeds we plant in faith bear fruit. When our children choose to homeschool their own children, it’s a testimony to God’s faithfulness and a reminder of the lasting impact of a Christ-centered education. My own daughter Julia and her husband Jacob homeschool their children, and the immense joy it brings is indescribable.
Psalm 128:1-2 reminds us, “Blessed is every one that feareth the LORD; that walketh in his ways. For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands: happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee.” The work you’re doing today will echo for generations.

A Kitchen Table Legacy
I was homeschooled growing up, and those years shaped my education, my future, and my heart. The kitchen table was my classroom, the world was my laboratory, and family was always at the center. When I look back, I don’t just remember math lessons or history dates. I remember us growing closer as a family, learning patience and perseverance, and the joy of learning being returned to me.
Even now, before I’ve started raising my own kids, I already know homeschooling is where I’m headed. It’s not a decision made out of fear or pressure, but out of gratitude. My parents gave me the gift of learning at home, and I can’t wait to pass that gift on. When my kids read aloud in the morning or chase curiosity through projects and adventures, I know I will see the same spark that was once nurtured in me.
Sometimes I wonder: Will my kids carry this even further? Will they one day sit at their own kitchen tables, teaching their children with the same mix of laughter, struggle, and joy? I really hope so. Because homeschooling has never just been about academics; it’s about legacy. It’s about relationships, about love, about knowledge taking root in the soil of family.
So, yes, I homeschool today with tomorrow in mind. My prayer is that the seeds I plant now will not only bloom in my children but in my grandchildren, too.

Leave It to God
“Will my kids teach their kids?” How should I know? I’m no prophet. But I will say this: if your kids didn’t have fun in their homeschool because you were too stressed out, never smiled, and made them do school on the weekends, late nights, and on vacation, you shouldn’t be surprised if they don’t.
I mean, if your homeschool is a fun place to learn, with lots of great memories, and tons of free time to explore and learn, why wouldn’t they want to homeschool their own children?
I’m not sure if any of my children think there’s another way.
But I also know this: our children will eventually marry someone who was not raised in my home. They may not think the same way as we think . . . or have the same experiences my kids had.
That can be a little scary. But I also know this: God can be trusted . . . and I don’t have to sweat it. Neither do you. 🙂
So have a great day of homeschooling, smile a lot, and back off a little.
Be real,
Todd
