Tissue Box Guitar

Tissue Box Guitar

This craft will naturally lead to getting a musical groove on in your house! With simple materials and a quick assembly time, your littles will use one style of cognitive function to complete the guitar and a different brain function to make music.

Use the crafting time to play music genres that are new to your family and ease in some common musical terms and other teaching while they’ve got their minds relating to the activity. Your littles will have fun making and strumming and perhaps even get creative with other things they can do with their box guitar.

You will need:

  • Empty tissue box
  • Wooden ruler
  • Rubber bands
  • Glue

Instructions:

  1. Get your empty tissue box.
  2. Pull the rubber bands across the long ends of the box.
  3. Glue the ruler to the back of the box with ¾ of it sticking out.

Don’t have the materials listed?

You probably have something around your home that will work. This is your time to get creative. What other kind of box do you have laying around or tucked away in your recycling box? Do you have any long narrow piece of wood or any long narrow piece of anything that can act as the neck of the guitar (like a paper towel roll that has been used in the image)? Ask your kids these questions and see if they can come up with alternatives.
